Frequently asked questions

Practical starting points

Short answers to the questions that most often bring visitors to the firm.

Who does Freedman CPA work with?

The firm works with businesses and their owners, individuals and executives, independent professionals, and not-for-profit organizations. Engagements are shaped around the accounting, tax, payroll, planning, or advisory work required.

What happens during a complimentary consultation?

Describe the issue, change, or decision you are facing. The conversation is used to understand the situation, identify the likely scope of work, and determine whether the firm is the right fit.

My books are behind or disorganized. Can you help?

Yes. Accounting support can begin with a review of the current records, reconciliation and cleanup, then a practical process for keeping the books current.

Can the firm handle payroll?

Yes. Services include comprehensive payroll processing, after-the-fact payroll reporting, and access to online payroll. See the Payroll Services section for details.

Can you help us get more from QuickBooks?

Yes. Support includes selection, setup, business-specific training, phone and email answers, file review, cleanup, and repeatable workflows.

I received an IRS notice or made a tax mistake. What should I do?

Do not ignore the notice or its deadline. Contact the firm with a general description of the issue. Sensitive documents should be sent only through the secure portal. See Tax Problem Resolution.

How should I send tax documents or financial records?

Use the secure client portal for sensitive documents. Do not email Social Security numbers, tax documents, or account information.

Where are the offices, and where should mail be sent?

Office visits are available by appointment in Lower Manhattan and Plantation. Neither office accepts mail. All correspondence goes to the Davie mailing address shown on the Contact page.

How are fees determined?

Fees depend on the scope, condition of the records, timing, and level of support required. The complimentary consultation helps clarify the engagement before work begins.
